LIFE SAFETY DRILLS

Fire and emergency evacuation drill objectives:

Evaluate the effectiveness of the staff's abilities to evacuate a building

Evaluate the effectiveness and adequacy of the fire and life safety evacuation plan

Evaluate staff's ability to recognize the fire/evacuation alarm

Evaluate if staff's response is appropriate responding to an evacuation or fire alarm

Evaluate staff's ability to execute the evacuation process appropriately and according to facility plan
-
Evaluate staff's ability to provide assistance to residents or individuals who are experiencing difficulty

Evaluate staff's ability to recognize and take appropriate actions when a means of egress is unsafe

Ensure staff report in at designated meeting place

Evaluate staff/ mgmt ability to perform appropriate duties with speed and efficiency

To identify and review preparedness and response gaps
Trains staff and occupants efficiency and effectiveness in permformance of emergency procedures, as well how to evaluate capability to do so.
Training credits approved by the Department which are required to renew SNF, RCFE, & ARF administrator certification. The extended training and development knowledge ensures that administrators remain current with the principles and practices of safety and disaster preparedness in Long-Term Care facilities.
All employees, regardless of the size of the facility in which they work, should be trained in the following areas:Evacuation plans; Alarm systems;Reporting procedure for personnel;Shutdown procedures;Types of potential emergencies
